New Year's Eve

Hola all.

More pictures to follow either on Monday or Wednesday. Still sunny and 70's here.
Todays fun has been riding a motor scooter and doing a small bit of picture taking and shopping. (painful)

The all day on the water trip was very enjoyable and I managed to not get a sunburn. (That note was for Mom)
The snorkeling was good, but not great. Not anywhere near the amount of colorful live coral as there should have been........Other activities included riding a jet ski (and tossing us off of it) and parasailing. Pictures of parasailing do exist. Very enjoyable. I encourage anyone that has not done parasailing to try one day.

Saturday, was slow and relaxing day. Ended it with a fine dinner at La Trattoria. They serve half sized plates of pasta which was nice. Food included...Bruschetta, salad, Cheese tortallini with italian sausage, basil and garlic on one half plate, and a penne pasta with seafood in a light cream sauce on the other half plate.

Tonight for New Years Eve, we shall be dining at the A&B Lobster House for an early dinner, then the amusement of wandering down Duval St and seeing the packed masses shall probably occur.

New photos

new photos from the last couple of days have been added.
another day of sunny and warm. Tomorrow is snorkel, waverunner and perhaps parasailing day.
Had dinner at a wonderful tapas restaurant. Santiago Bodega I believe. Very unique and tasty food. Anything from flaming cheese to spicy grouper.

Sunny and 70's

A wonderful dinner last night at the Roof Top Cafe. Highly recommended for anyone that wanders down here. Good salad, followed up by a shrimp/crab cake appetizer and a nice filet for me and tuna for Bonnie.

Today

Woke up to the sounds of small feet upstairs. The room above us now has a family of four renting it with two young boys. Hopefully they will not be too active every morning.....

After finally mailing Xmas cards and completing the morning miles, lunch was at an old favorite. The Bananna Cafe on Duval St, somewhat near the Southern most point. Had some decent crepes.

More pictures tomorrow with luck.

Day 2

Sunny and in the 80's.
Per one of the locals the weather is expected to remain this way for a while, so after Xmas I expect to do some snorkeling and day sailing.

Had a nice lunch at Croissants de France. Excellent galletes (sp?). She had a seafood one with a bechemal sauce. I had a combo that included tomatoe, brie, mushrooms, ham and egg with a chive sauce on the side. No starving here.

Signing off from a the random internet cafe not near most of you.

The Arrival and first Eve

.....sort of a continuation from the last post...

Last night as remembered and brought to you from an Internet cafe on Duval St.

Around 3 PM we had recharged just enough (aka we became hungry) we went out. A wine bar that we remembered from our last visit is rather close to our rental. So upon spotting it we decided to go in for 1 glass of wine.....(infamous last words). While there some of the locals started talking to us and after we had a couple of glasses and I bought a bottle for part of the crowd, we were invited to a party hosted by a pair of semi locals. Very amusing British couple. They had a party for some out of town folks and were pleasantly suprised when we actually showed up to their party. Was amusing being the only two people born in the US at the party.
Wine and lack of sleep caught up with us and so ended day one.

The Journey

Merry December 24th

Recapping the fun of travel....Got a late start out of town (Bonnie left PA late, weather and traffic were hideous) at around 4:45 PM. Drove through varying amounts of rain (mist to torrential downpours) and realized, that for us to make our check-in time on Saturday we needed to drive straight through.
So we did.
19 or 20 hours later, we arrived in Key West. I managed a 45 min nap! This might be the last time I do this drive.........
Got to Key West, sunny and 85! Papa's hideaway was ready for us. Has its own pool and jacuzzi. On Louisa street, away from the worst of the hustle and bustle of Duval St.
The place is quite nice and I will post some pictures later with luck.

hmmm.....when I typed right most picture above.....they pics were right most on my screen. Upon posting, it seems bottom is more accurate. Also I clearly need to work on my spelling/typing skills.

Testing and showing Condo in process

Ok. This is the first attempt at both using this site and using my new digital camera. The 2 pics shown above are of my condo building. The condo that I will be purchasing is shown in both pictures, and looking at the rightmost picture, the corner unitat the top level of scaffolding. Also know as the second floor corner unit....and yes I know that is a lot of windows for a person like me.
